The Kealakekua Public Library will be hosting Hawai’i island author Kiana Davenport in a discussion of the background and research behind her latest adult fiction book, The Spy Lover. Based on her family history, it is at once a historical novel, a haunting love story, and an expose’ on the treatment of minorities during the Civil War.

A graduate of the University of Hawai’i, Kiana has been a Bunting Fellow at Harvard University, a Visiting Writer at Wesleyan University, and a recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts grant. Her other books include Shark Dialogues, House of Many Gods, and Song of the Exile.
